Preparing for Your Visit: The Cosmetic Surgery Process
At our Illinois cosmetic surgery center, Dr. Michael Horn and his caring staff work with each patient to develop a personal treatment plan tailored to their individual needs. Our team is here for you throughout the cosmetic surgery process to guide you, discuss any concerns you may have, and support you in reaching your goals.
Consultation
The initial consultation at our office gives you a chance to meet with Dr. Horn and thoroughly discuss your interests. Dr. Horn will also be able to examine you and determine if you are a good candidate for cosmetic surgery. You can also view before and after pictures from previous patients at our Illinois center and speak with our cosmetic surgery staff about insurance and financial considerations. Our team will strive to discuss any concerns you may have openly and honestly.
Preoperative Appointment
A preoperative appointment is typically scheduled a week before your surgery date. During this visit, Dr. Horn can review your procedure with you and perform a thorough physical exam to make sure you are in the best health for the surgery. You will be given prescriptions to fill and will sign the surgical consent form. Preoperative photographs may also be performed at this time.
Day Prior to Surgery
On the day prior to your cosmetic surgery, it is important to make sure the arrangements for your procedure are in place. Prepare your home so that you can be comfortable while recovering. You should also shower with an antibacterial soap, avoid eating after midnight, and carefully follow any other preoperative instructions provided by Dr. Horn to maximize your results.
Surgery
On the day of surgery, plan to arrive at least an hour early to check in. Wear loose fitting clothes and leave your valuables at home. When your procedure is complete, you will remain in the recovery room for several hours. You must have someone to drive you home, help you inside, and assist you after surgery. Start taking your pain medication and antibiotics, and limit your activity for at least the first 24 hours after surgery.
Follow-up Appointments
You may be scheduled for several follow-up appointments at our Illinois cosmetic surgery center to track your healing, remove bandages or dressings, and document your results. During your first follow-up appointment, Dr. Horn will have more accurate information regarding when you can expect to return to work and other activities.
