Being single moms, we often make many sacrifices for our children and delay self-care for ourselves. My Honest Results
In February 2022, I received a consultation for a breast reduction and liposuction. My breasts were large and literally wearing me down and causing shoulder and back issues.
On February 18, 2022, Dr. Horn performed my breast reduction. With respect, it was a bit uncomfortable, but not for long, and I did expect this discomfort based on the instructions provided to me during my consultation.
The only issue I had was a break in the incisions underneath my breast, which was a bit scary, but the ointment I received and the dressing used to cover the area worked towards the healing. It's a good reminder that things like this can happen with any procedure, and I was glad they had a fast protocol for me to follow.
I was able to see the results immediately. I feel so much better now, and my breasts look great! Not only are my breasts the right size, but they are also lifted and look great in all types of clothing!
How I’m Feeling Now
I still need to get comfortable with sleeping on my back because it is still a bit uncomfortable to sleep on either side without waking up in a bit of pain. I must say, I do not think that I have ever been as happy as I have been with my body since the surgery.
Some tips to sleep on your back after a breast reduction surgery are :
- Use extra pillows to support your back, neck, and head.
- Try sleeping in a recliner for the first few nights.
- Use a foam wedge to prop up your head and upper body.
- Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees.
All of the side effects and uncomfortableness were expected. Breast reduction surgery is just like any other procedure where there will be some discomfort and pain. However, the results have been amazing. I would recommend Dr. Horn to anyone considering any type of cosmetic surgery.
You can help minimize your discomfort after breast reduction surgery by:
- Wearing a supportive bra day and night for at least six weeks.
- Taking your pain medication as prescribed.
- Sleeping on your back with several pillows to prop you up.
- Applying ice packs to your breasts for 20 minutes at a time.
- Wearing loose, comfortable clothing.
- Avoiding strenuous activity for at least six weeks
I promised myself that I would put ME first and be intentional with MY self-care. This has been, by far, the best investment for ME. VitaminIV Drip and Botox will continue to be my self-care regimen. Everyone should have a self-care regimen, and this so happens to be mine. As a mom, I have to do what I can to feel my best, so I can be my best for my kids.
